Prunus persica 'Belle of Georgia'
The “Belle of Georgia” Peach (Prunus persica “Belle of Georgia”) is a pink-flowered peach tree (red buds) variety grown in plant hardiness zones 5 through 8. The tree is self-fertile and produces high quality white, sweet, freestone peaches that work well for freezing, canning, baking and direct eating. Like all peaches, this variety grows in full sun, very well drained soil and should be planted 12 to 15 feet apart. The “Belle of Georgia” tree is hardy and resists both bacterial spot and brown rot, making it easier to grow than many other varieties. This peach does require 800 to 850 chill hours (that's about 33 days below 46 degrees - Zones 5- 8), so it can be relied upon to bear heavily during most fruiting seasons in the mid-atlantic area.
